11 – Sin

These are the holy words of God Almighty.
We are not interested in the words of humans.
For anybody who loves God… this is what God says about: Sin.

Hebrews 10:26-27

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Psalms 78:10

They did not keep the covenant of God; They refused to walk in His law,

John 8:24

"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

Genesis 2:16-17

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

Genesis 3:6

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Genesis 3:12-13

Then the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate." And the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

Genesis 3:22-24

Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. Genesis 4:5-8

but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it." Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

Genesis 6:5

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 18:20

And the LORD said, "Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave,

Exodus 20:3-6

"You shall have no other gods before Me. "You shall not make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Exodus 20:7

"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

Exodus 20:13-17

"You shall not murder. "You shall not commit adultery. "You shall not steal. "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

Exodus 20:20

And Moses said to the people, "Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin."

Exodus 21:15-17

"And he who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. "He who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death. "And he who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

Exodus 22:19

"Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.

Exodus 23:1

"You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

Leviticus 5:5

'And it shall be, when he is guilty in any of these matters, that he shall confess that he has sinned in that thing;

Leviticus 18:20

'Moreover you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, to defile yourself with her.

Leviticus 18:21

'And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 18:22

'You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.

Leviticus 18:23

'Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.

Leviticus 18:29

'For whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

Leviticus 19:11

'You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.

Leviticus 19:18

'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:35-36

You shall do no injustice in judgment, in measurement of length, weight, or volume. 'You shall have honest scales, honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

Leviticus 20:7

'Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 24:15-16

"Then you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. 'And whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land. When he blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall be put to death.

Leviticus 24:19-20

If a man causes disfigurement of his neighbor, as he has done, so shall it be done to him- 'fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he has caused disfigurement of a man, so shall it be done to him.

Leviticus 26:40

'But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,

Numbers 5:6

"Speak to the children of Israel: 'When a man or woman commits any sin that men commit in unfaithfulness against the LORD, and that person is guilty,

Numbers 21:7

Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, "We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you; pray to the LORD that He take away the serpents from us." So Moses prayed for the people.

Numbers 32:23

"But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the LORD; and be sure your sin will find you out.

Deuteronomy 5:7-10

You shall have no other gods before Me. 'You shall not covet your neighbor's wife; and you shall not desire your neighbor's house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.'

Deuteronomy 5:32

"Therefore you shall be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Deuteronomy 7:25-26

"You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the LORD your God. "Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

Deuteronomy 25:13-16

"You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a heavy and a light. "You shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small. "You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure, that your days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD your God is giving you. "For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 27:15

'Cursed is the one who makes a carved or molded image, an abomination to the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' "And all the people shall answer and say, 'Amen!'

Deuteronomy 27:19

'Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless, and widow.' "And all the people shall say, 'Amen!'

Deuteronomy 27:24

'Cursed is the one who attacks his neighbor secretly.' "And all the people shall say, 'Amen!'

Deuteronomy 27:25

'Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.' "And all the people shall say, 'Amen!'

Deuteronomy 27:26

'Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law.' "And all the people shall say, 'Amen!'

Deuteronomy 28:15

"But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

Deuteronomy 32:16-17

They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger. They sacrificed to demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals That your fathers did not fear.

Judges 10:15

And the children of Israel said to the LORD, "We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems best to You; only deliver us this day, we pray."

1 Samuel 2:17

Therefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD, for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

1 Samuel 15:23

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king."

1 Kings 8:46

"When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to the land of the enemy, far or near;

2 Kings 17:17-18

And they caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and soothsaying, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger. Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them from His sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah alone.

2 Chronicles 6:39

"then hear from heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.

2 Chronicles 33:6

Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; he practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger.

Job 8:13

So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the hypocrite shall perish,

If I sin, then You mark me, And will not acquit me of my iniquity.

Job 13:4

But you forgers of lies, You are all worthless physicians.

Job 13:23

How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me know my transgression and my sin.

"What is man, that he could be pure? And he who is born of a woman, that he could be righteous?

Then he looks at men and says, 'I have sinned, and perverted what was right, And it did not profit me.' He will redeem his soul from going down to the Pit, And his life shall see the light.

BLESSED is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

Psalms 1:4

The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

Psalms 4:2

How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah

Psalms 5:5-6

The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

Psalms 10:2-4

The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised. For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD. The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.

Psalms 10:7

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.

Psalms 14:1

THE fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.

Psalms 25:18

Look on my affliction and my pain, And forgive all my sins.

Psalms 32:1

BLESSED is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.

Psalms 32:5

I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD," And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Psalms 36:3

The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

Psalms 37:8

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret-it only causes harm.

Psalms 38:18

For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my sin.

Psalms 41:4

I said, "LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You."

Psalms 51:1-4

HAVE mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight- That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.

Psalms 51:5

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.

Psalms 51:9-11

Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Psalms 52:2

Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

Psalms 53:1-3

THE fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good. God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. Every one of them has turned aside; They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

Psalms 59:12

For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, Let them even be taken in their pride, And for the cursing and lying which they speak.

Psalms 69:5

O God, You know my foolishness; And my sins are not hidden from You.

Psalms 78:10

They did not keep the covenant of God; They refused to walk in His law,

Psalms 78:17

But they sinned even more against Him By rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness.

Psalms 79:8-9

Oh, do not remember former iniquities against us! Let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us, For we have been brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name's sake!

Psalms 90:8

You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.

Psalms 97:10

You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

Psalms 101:7

He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.

Psalms 103:10-12

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Psalms 106:6

We have sinned with our fathers, We have committed iniquity, We have done wickedly.

Psalms 106:35-39

But they mingled with the Gentiles And learned their works; They served their idols, Which became a snare to them. They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons, And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood. Thus they were defiled by their own works, And played the harlot by their own deeds.

Psalms 119:1

BLESSED are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD!

Psalms 119:11

Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Psalms 119:118

You reject all those who stray from Your statutes, For their deceit is falsehood.

Psalms 119:136

Rivers of water run down from my eyes, Because men do not keep Your law.

Psalms 139:23-24

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Proverbs 1:10

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.

Proverbs 6:12-14

A worthless person, a wicked man, Walks with a perverse mouth; He winks with his eyes, He shuffles his feet, He points with his fingers; Perversity is in his heart, He devises evil continually, He sows discord.

Proverbs 6:16-19

These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

Proverbs 8:13

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.

Proverbs 11:20-21

Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the LORD, But the blameless in their ways are His delight. Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.

Proverbs 14:12

There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

Proverbs 15:26-27

The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD, But the words of the pure are pleasant. He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes will live.

Proverbs 16:5

Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.

Proverbs 16:28

A perverse man sows strife, And a whisperer separates the best of friends.

Proverbs 17:13

Whoever rewards evil for good, Evil will not depart from his house.

Proverbs 17:15

He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

Proverbs 19:5

A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies will not escape.

The devising of foolishness is sin, And the scoffer is an abomination to men.

Proverbs 26:28

A lying tongue hates those who are crushed by it, And a flattering mouth works ruin.

One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.

Proverbs 28:13-14

He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Happy is the man who is always reverent, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Proverbs 29:12

If a ruler pays attention to lies, All his servants become wicked.

Proverbs 30:12

There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness.

Ecclesiastes 7:9

Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

Ecclesiastes 7:20

For there is not a just man on earth who does good And does not sin.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

Isaiah 1:16

"Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,

Isaiah 1:18

"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

Isaiah 1:28

The destruction of transgressors and of sinners shall be together, And those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

Isaiah 3:9

The look on their countenance witnesses against them, And they declare their sin as Sodom; They do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves.

Isaiah 5:20-21

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!

Isaiah 5:24

Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 13:11

"I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Isaiah 30:9

That this is a rebellious people, Lying children, Children who will not hear the law of the LORD;

Isaiah 32:6-7

For the foolish person will speak foolishness, And his heart will work iniquity: To practice ungodliness, To utter error against the LORD, To keep the hungry unsatisfied, And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. Also the schemes of the schemer are evil; He devises wicked plans To destroy the poor with lying words, Even when the needy speaks justice.

Isaiah 43:25-26

"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted.

Isaiah 53:5-6

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 56:11

Yes, they are greedy dogs Which never have enough. And they are shepherds Who cannot understand; They all look to their own way, Every one for his own gain, From his own territory.

Isaiah 57:4

Whom do you ridicule? Against whom do you make a wide mouth And stick out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, Offspring of falsehood,

Isaiah 59:2-4

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity. No one calls for justice, Nor does any plead for truth. They trust in empty words and speak lies; They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity.

Isaiah 64:6

But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

Jeremiah 2:22

For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, Yet your iniquity is marked before Me," says the Lord GOD.

Jeremiah 3:13

Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the LORD your God, And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,' says the LORD.

Jeremiah 3:25

We lie down in our shame, And our reproach covers us. For we have sinned against the LORD our God, We and our fathers, From our youth even to this day, And have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God."

Jeremiah 4:14

O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, That you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?

Jeremiah 6:15

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed; Nor did they know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time I punish them, They shall be cast down," says the LORD.

Jeremiah 6:19

Hear, O earth! Behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people- The fruit of their thoughts, Because they have not heeded My words Nor My law, but rejected it.

Jeremiah 7:8-10

"Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit. "Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know, "and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations'?

Jeremiah 8:5

Why has this people slidden back, Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return.

Jeremiah 8:6

I listened and heard, But they do not speak aright. No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, 'What have I done?' Everyone turned to his own course, As the horse rushes into the battle.

Jeremiah 9:3-5

"And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me," says the LORD. "Everyone take heed to his neighbor, And do not trust any brother; For every brother will utterly supplant, And every neighbor will walk with slanderers. Everyone will deceive his neighbor, And will not speak the truth; They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary themselves to commit iniquity.

Jeremiah 9:8

Their tongue is an arrow shot out; It speaks deceit; One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, But in his heart he lies in wait.

Jeremiah 9:13-14

And the LORD said, "Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice, nor walked according to it, "but they have walked according to the dictates of their own hearts and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them,"

Jeremiah 14:7

O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, Do it for Your name's sake; For our backslidings are many, We have sinned against You.

Jeremiah 14:20

We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness And the iniquity of our fathers, For we have sinned against You.

Jeremiah 17:9

"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

Jeremiah 23:14

Also I have seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: They commit adultery and walk in lies; They also strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one turns back from his wickedness. All of them are like Sodom to Me, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 44:4

'However I have sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, "Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate!"

Jeremiah 44:22

"So the LORD could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you committed. Therefore your land is a desolation, an astonishment, a curse, and without an inhabitant, as it is this day.

Ezekiel 3:7

"But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard-hearted.

Ezekiel 16:36

'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because your filthiness was poured out and your nakedness uncovered in your harlotry with your lovers, and with all your abominable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them,
